THE TROUBLE WITH EXERCISE IS THAT PEOPLE DO NOT DO IT BECAUSE IT TAKES SO MUCH TIME AND IT IS BORING
The main reason why people do not exercise is that people engage in exercises that require far too much time and at the same time do not have very impressive results. The more time associated with exercise the less likely it is that people will do exercise. The more efficient an exercise is the more likely people will do it. Efficiency should be measured by how much time is required and how many health and fitness benefits are gained. The absolutely most efficient method of exercise is the the 4 minute per day ROM exercise (www.fastexercise.com) The ROM machine (stands for Range of Motion) delivers results that sound completely unbelievable to anyone who knows anything about exercise, yet the impressive results are undeniable. A well rounded exercise regimen includes all three components of physical training for health and fitness: Cardio vascular exercise, muscle strengthening resistance training and stretching exercises for flexibility. The ROM delivers all 3 of these exercise components in a single short 4 minute workout. The effectiveness of this 4 minute workout is extremely high in that the beneficial results are equivalent to those of 20 to 45 minutes of running or jogging for cardio vascular training, plus 45 minutes resistance exercise for muscular strength training, plus 20 minutes of stretching exercise for flexibility/limberness. No other workout comes anywhere close to these results.
MAXIMUM EFFICIENCY FROM A 4 MINUTE WORKOUT
Maximum efficiency from this 4 minute workout can only be achieved if the total time required for doing that workout remains 4 minutes and does not require commuting back and forth to a place that has such a ROM machine. Over 90% of ROM machines are in private residences and 6% are in places of employment for employees to use. The ROM machines in the home and the place of work add no extra time to the 4 minutes of workout. As soon as you add additional time for commuting to a place where ROM machines are available in a gym or health club setting, you will add commuting time to the 4 minute workout. If the commute in both directions is 20 minutes then the time requirement for a 4 minute ROM workout jumps to 24 minutes and the likelihood that people will do that 24 minute exercise decreases tremendously. Dressing and undressing in a club, checking in at the desk, showering etc. all add time to the actual workout. The cost of time is the major reason why so few people are willing to make that daily time investment to improve and maintain their health. How important the time issue realy is can be easier understood by way of the following analogy: Most people have learned to discipline themselves to brush their teeth a few minutes. Now imagine that you would have to go right next door to the neighbors house to brush your teeth. That extra 2 minute commute and the extra inconvenience would be the end of teeth brushing for most people, right?
THERE COULD BE FINANCIAL BENEFIT FOR HEALTH CLUBS IN HAVING ROM MACHINES
Many people have difficulty making correct economic decisions and they will drive 5 minutes to save 10 cents per gallon of gasoline. After awhile they find out that there are no savings in doing that and they will begrudgingly buy the more expensive gasoline in their own neighborhood. A 4 minute workout offered by a health club will attract new membership that previously could not be signed up for 60 minute workouts. As with normal health club memberships, there will be a significant drop-off in those people coming to the health club because they find out that the total 4 minute workout in reality costs 30 to 45 minutes of total time. There are dedicated small gyms that feature only our ROM machines, no other equipment and no showers. The total time requirement for 6 ROM workouts per week depends on how close people live or work near the mini club. These small locations (QuickGym locations) can operate profitably with only 400 members and therefore they can draw people from a smaller radius area with lesser average commute times. Commute times can be reduced by doing both upper and lower body workouts on the same day (doing 8 minutes of exercise) and skipping a day in between. That reduces visits to the QuickGym to 3 times per week, a time savings. Of course the same 3 visits per week can be done with full size health clubs as well.
THE IDEAL PLACE FOR A QUICKGYM FACILITY IS INSIDE A BUSINESS
The business model for these QuickGyms at work is to offer a complete package service to larger companies with more than 100 employees (companies with lesser than 100 employees can still have that service, however they will pay a minimum fee per month that equals the fee for a company with minimum 100 employees.
The service provider company (say it is called "ExerciseAtWork" will provide the ROM machine(s) and the maintenance of the ROMs plus a 2 hour weekly visit by a trainer for every 100 employees to teach the proper use of the ROM and for this service "ExerciseAtWork" will charge the business a minimum service fee that would cover 100 employees per month. The service fee per employee is determined on the basis of prevailing competitive health club membership fees in the area. The trainer will coordinate the exercise programs of all the employees and makes sure that score records are kept to demonstrate prgress in health and fitness for all employees. The "ExerciseAtWork" franchise company will provide the needed liability insurance. The businesses in which the QuickGym is to be established will designate the areas in which the QuickGym is to be located on their premises. Larger companies may designate multiple rooms spread evenly over the facilities so that the "commute" for employees does not exceed 1 or 2 minutes. IT IS ALL ABOUT TIME.

Most of us know about the old adage "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". It means that for every dollar we invest in exercise and good nutrition we could save 16 dollars in "Illness Care". So we are agreed, exercise is a good thing for the economy and of course each of us individually.
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF REGIONAL SERVICES THAT CREATE ON PREMISES QUICKGYMS
The ROM is excellently suited to create wellness facilities for companies on their own premises. Very little room needed and very little time required for a very effective daily workout for employees. We have firmly established by way of experience that these in-company ROM exercise facilities do not work if they are not accompanied by a very well thought out motivational guidance program that is executed by well trained professional trainers plus a team of medical testing professionals that will take tests for strength, flexibility and cardiovascular endurance plus other tests such as body composition tests that fit into a comprehensive wellness program.
These are some of my thoughts on the subject of establishing exclusive areas for businesses that would be created in metro areas and other geographical areas for the specific purpose of establishing on-premises ROM QuickGym facilities inside companies.
SO, HOW DURABLE ARE THESE ROM MACHINES?
There are a few ROM machines in commercial use since 1991 and they have endured over 180,000 uses and they are still going strong without need of repair or overhaul. The only thing they have needed are new handgrips and every 4 years or so a centrifugal brake pad that is a wear item. Cost of parts for these small Gyms has bee $0.00 (zero) because we have a 10 year parts warranty on our ROM machines and we have continnued giving them free handgrips even though it was over 10 years because the benefits in customer satisfaction and public relations far outweigh the few dollars we would be billing them.
